With so much information at our fingertips, it’s almost absurd to think that a percentage of us are unaware of some of the biggest problems that face our community. Lack of awareness regarding global issues isn’t necessarily the most pressing issue facing the world today, but it’s certainly an interesting one – as it acts as a barrier to instigating real change down the line. For how can we expect future generations to bring about change if they don’t share these global concerns to begin with?

When children want to become lawyers and doctors, but not ‘scientists who develops a cure for [x] disease’ or ‘aid workers that give relief to country [y]’, it might be time to rethink how we're painting the world for the younger generations. It might be time to think of ways to increase consciousness of the problem itself, without jumping straight to solutions.

Lasting change is brought upon by the combined effort of many, and right now the ‘many’ are too few.
